Kenneth loves his sand table. We had it in storage for months since he wasn't really interested. Then I filled it with rice to see if he'd like it. We are now in sand-land. I tell him "it's just like Galveston."

Kenneth is a bright, happy, loving little boy. He just turned 6 and is finishing the school year in a private school in Dallas. He continues to have global developmental delays but is amazing us each day with new ways of communicating and sharing his world. By the grace of God, he grows, blossoms, and touches our lives every day.

A Bit of History
June 3, 2004 - Kenneth is born 2 months early and spends 5 weeks in the NICU. He is 4 lbs.
September 2004 - ECI services start. We receive speech, occupational and physical therapy weekly.
October 2004 - We start seeing a developmental pediatrician to track his developmental delays due to prematurity.
November 15, 2005 - We are referred to neurosurgeon for an MRI. Kenneth's head size is off the charts and they discover he has an arachnoid cyst on the entire left hemisphere. Surgery is critical. (Kenneth showed no signs of a cyst when released from the hospital at birth.)
December 19, 2005 (18 mos.) - Kenneth has surgery (crainiectomy)to drain the arachnoid cyst. His recovery is slow but good. We spend a quiet Christmas at home.
April, 2007 - Kenneth is diagnosed by a child psychologist through ECI -- they say he's on the Autism Spectrum. Our developmental ped. concurs.
May, 2007 - ECI services end and we are referred to the school district for autism evaluation and programs.
September 2007 - Kenneth starts Lakewood Elementary's TC program (Total Communication for children with autism).
September 2008 - Kenneth attends his second year at Lakewood. We are excited about his progress over the summer months and at every break he seems to come alive.
January 2009 - Kenneth starts Callier UTD preschool speech program.
July 2009 - Kenneth finishes summer semester at Callier; we miss you guys!
August 2009 - Kenneth starts kindergarten at Truett Elementary! We will continue to pull him out for private therapy sessions during the week and hopefully get him started on some hippotherapy in the late fall.
